PPIC Statewide Survey

April 2021

As a proud sponsor of the Public Policy Institute of California, we are honored to release the latest findings from their recent Statewide Survey. The PPIC Statewide Survey delivers nonpartisan, objective, advocacy-free information on California resident’s perceptions, opinions, and public policy preferences. The survey asked Californians about various pertinent issues this time around, including the pandemic, economic recession, and government COVID-19 relief.

With the number of new cases down nationally, an overwhelming majority of Californians (74%) say that the worst of the pandemic is behind us. At the same time that Californians express growing optimism about the pandemic, concerns about contracting COVID-19 have declined. Less than half of Californians say they are either very concerned (18%) or somewhat concerned (29%) about getting the virus and needing hospitalization—a drop of 13 percentage points since January (25% very concerned; 35% somewhat concerned). These latest survey results highlight the relief and hope Californians are feeling due in large part to the vaccines, tests and treatments in development by CA life science companies.
