Patricia Cooper, Executive Director
Patricia Cooper is the Executive Director of the California Biotechnology Foundation (CBF), a 501 (c)(3) connecting California policy makers, opinion leaders, and other healthcare stakeholders with the latest healthcare research and data from industry experts and research institutions. She has spearheaded multiple programs for over 16 years to advance life sciences literacy among California’s top policy influencers and stakeholders, as well as patients and providers. Patricia is also a seasoned coalition builder, directing strategy, expanding partnerships, and leading highly collaborative campaigns among a diverse set of coalitions that include stakeholders from government, state and national coalitions, patient groups, and labor unions. Her engaging campaigns act as templates for international corporations, industry associations and healthcare stakeholders and her programs raise the level of literacy and discourse around important life sciences policy.
As a Senior VP of Public Affairs at Weber Shandwick, Patricia presided over healthcare strategic communications planning and development for clients around the country. She also belongs to Wondros Partner Network where she has collaborated on campaigns for the California Endowment, Song for Charlie on the dangers of Fentanyl, and Listos for the CA Office of Emergency Services. She currently lives in Sacramento, California and is a proud graduate of University of Oregon with a BA in History. She serves on the Board of Directors of Connecting to Cure and is a longtime supporter of their patient advocacy and support, and research funding. She also serves on the Board of the California Society for Biomedical Research, where they seek to inspire students to careers in the life sciences.
