Life Science Industry Celebrates STEAM During San Diego Student Festival

Generation STEAM’s 16th annual San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering Expo Day gave thousands of kids and families an up close and personal look at all things STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).

Hosted at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, more than 120 exhibitors participated including some of the region’s top life science companies like Illumina, Genentech, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Bristol Myers Squibb who offered games, free interactive demonstrations, and science experiments to inspire interest among young people through hands-on interactive displays and experiments.

The events expose students from neighborhoods all over the San Diego region to STEAM career paths, allow them to ask questions in-person, and open their eyes to future opportunities and what they can aspire to.
